There’s a new pup in town at Animal Care & Control of NYC! Ok, not actually a pup… but a man who cares about dogs’ welfare like they’re the family they are! That man is Ken Foster, author and dog advocate extraordinaire.
You might remember Ken from our recent feature on his book I’m A Good Dog, a loving tribute to the oft misunderstood Pit Bull. Although Ken currently lives in New Orleans with his pups Bananas, Dominick, Douglas and Paul, Ken will soon be returning to New York City after 13 years away to assist large and small breeds alike. Starting in August, 2015, Ken will be joining Animal Care & Control of NYC as their new Community Dogs Program Coordinator!
Ken’s work at AC&C will be centered around a two-pronged community approach to reducing the euthanasia of dogs and assisting dog owners, particularly in regard to larger breeds and others at risk for owner surrender.
“Our goal is to bring info and resources into the city community to help people avoid animal surrender and decrease intake. We want to help keep dogs in the homes they are in—we want to keep the animal and human family together.“
